President's Desk: April Presidents Letter
Thursday, April 19, 2007 - 08:42 AM
Hi Everyone!

Well we finally pulled it together at Thai Peppers with ten of us present including the “newly weds” Mary & Roger!

Also present were Trex & Sally, Jim and Kathy, Gina, John & Mary Alice, and yours truly.

We had so much fun we decided to do it again May 15th. (NOTE this is NOT the second Tuesday so don’t get confused.)

It looks like we will be organizing a Christmas Party J this year as well; there is rumor it may be complete with Jack-O-Lanterns???

In other news, Mary and Roger are planning a trip to Cozumel this month. We have seen information on the trip including food, lodging, drinks, and 14 dives for under $700.00 (plus air fare). Space is left so contact Mary and Roger soon if you wish to join the party.

Gina will be on her way to Hawaii! Together with Mary and Roger we have been promised trip reports and photos from all of their vacations at the next meeting.

While Mary was “powdering her nose” Roger nominated her to be president of the club and we unanimously agreed. He said he had the authority to speak for her, but…..not so sure the in absentia election is going to stick. It’s worth a try.

John had just returned from cave diving in Florida; John, Rob and Andy have been to the 18 fathom wreck within the past few weeks, and Jim Atack has managed to dive off shore about once a month through the winter.

Mary & Roger said they have seen Pete in church and that he has been able to walk without a cane or walker. We are glad to hear of the improvements and I am sure we will keep Pete and his family in our prayers.

Finally, we ask all of you to keep Trex & Sally in your prayers. Trex is scheduled for surgery for lung cancer Thursday, April 19th.

Sally, don’t hesitate to let us know if there is anything either of you need! You know you have a lot of friends in the club who would consider it our privilege if there is something we can do to help.

Well best wishes to all and hope to see you in May.

Andy

President's Desk: November President's Letter
Tuesday, November 15, 2005 - 11:54 AM
Hello everyone,

Just a reminder Tuesday night is our last “official” meeting of the year with the Christmas Party taking the place of a December meeting.

I would love to see as many as possible as we plan the Christmas Party and hopefully have volunteers (or draftees) for officers for next year.

The next six months will be really tough for me so we are certainly looking for a new President, at least an interim one.

Thai Peppers at 6:30 for dinner followed by a business meeting to elect next years officers, plan the Party, and talk about some direction for next year.

Please don’t hesitate to e-mail me with questions, suggestions, or to nominate yourself for an officer position.

Thanks to all!
Andy

A meeting with MarineQuest
Wednesday, March 02, 2005 - 11:48 PM
Kristin Andrews from the UNCW Center for Marine Science spoke at length about the programs currently operating at the center, about the center itself and some of its sister sites and specifically about the MarineQuest Program. There is always ‘a lot going on” she says and from the sound of it, or if you peruse the website, it’s the absolute truth . . . .
